Armstrong Creek Riparian Buffer Planting along the NCWRC Owned and Operated Fish Hatchery in Marion, NC

On January 7, 2026: The NCWHF contributed $25,000 to Trout Unlimited’ s project to restore riparian buffers on the NCWRC’s owned and operated Fish Hatchery on a 2.3 mile stretch along Armstrong Creek in Marion, NC.

Environmental Benefits Include:

Trout Unlimited will plant native trees to restore riparian buffers to:

-Stabilize stream banks

-Shade surface waters to blunt thermal gain

-Diffuse flood level flows

-Create wildlife habitat 

-Improve water quality
