Riparian and Flood Plain Restoration along the Little Tennessee River

On October 11, 2021, the North Carolina Wildlife Habitat Foundation provided $15,000 to the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission to enhance riparian and flood plain connectivity along the Little Tennessee River in the mountains of Macon County, North Carolina. This project removed an earthen river levee, restored a pre-historic river channel, a river meander scar, and floodplain wetlands, and established a riparian buffer along 2,560 feet of the Little Tennessee River.
